Dasuki to spend Christmas in Kuje prison

Former National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki will be spending the Christmas holiday in Kuje prison following his inability to meet the N250 million bail conditions for two separate trials he is facing. Dasuki is standing trial for 32-count charge of money laundering and a 19 count charge of N9.6 billion fraud. Two Federal high courts granted him N250 million bail in two separate applications last week.

Okeke female hostel at UNN razed by fire (photos)

The Okeke female hostel at University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, was gutted by fire last night. According to an eye-witness, the fire started as a result of a spark from the wire when the school generator supplied power to the hostel. This is the worst fire incident in the university as neither the Dean of student affairs, the director of works department nor the Chairman of Servicom who came around was able to save the situation. A Supreme Court in North Korea has sentenced Hyeon Soo Lim, who pastors the Light Korean Presbyterian Church in Toronto to life imprisonment with hard labour after he was convicted of committing 'crimes against the state'. Pastor Soo Lim who had been in detention since February was given the sentence after a brief trial.

30 killed in Boko Haram attack on three villages in Borno

No fewer than 30 people were killed after Boko Haram members attacked Warwara, Mangari and Bura-Shika villages in Borno state over the weekend. Mustapha Karimbe, a member of the state vigilante group said many of the injured persons had machete cuts on them.

Nigerian woman who burnt a man's private parts with hot iron sentenced to 9yrs in prison in the UK

Kenya Alozie, 31, was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court on December 14, after being found guilty of GBH with intent. This followed an investigation by police in Greenwich. On 15 May, Alozie and the victim, a man in his thirties, were having sex at an address in Plumstead when she took a hot iron to burn his legs and genitals. She also used a broken bottle to attack him.

The victim sustained a number of serious injuries including deep cuts and burns. He has since undergone a number of hospital treatments and surgery.
