Nigeria's Central Bank Gov. Emefiele Hurriedly Leaves US After Pres. Buhari Tongue-Lashing

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, on Tuesday hurriedly abandoned President Muhammad Buhari in the United States following his open admonishing of him on Monday.  (Middle) Godwin Emefiele
A Presidency source told SaharaReporters that Mr. Emefiele asked to see President Buhari and then requested to leave for an “important” meeting in London. The President is said to have granted the request.
On Monday, the president had warned his aides against smuggling Nigerian businessmen into meetings during his visit.  Later that evening, he openly admonished the CBN governor for smuggling the former Managing Director of Zenith bank, Jim Ovia, into a dinner organized by the US Chamber of Commerce.
Presidency sources said the CBN governor’s request to leave Washington DC came as a surprise, as he had not previously informed President Buhari of any other meeting he had to attend, especially one that would deprive the President of a prominent member of his delegation.
It is unclear as of the time of publishing this report if Mr. Ovia, who was the beneficiary of Mr. Emefiele’s efforts, has also left the US.
Also on Monday, President Buhari took advantage of the meeting with his aides to order the opening of a desk at the presidential villa in Abuja where Nigerians who wished to see him could apply to do so.  It is common knowledge that in the preceding administration, wealthy Nigerians paid millions to be allowed to see the President.

LIB reader encounters unique creation of job via agriculture (photos)

A LIB reader writes in...
I was just going about my daily work activities when I came across this scene that caught my attention. Yoruba will say "Oba l'agbe" meaning a farmer is a king. I counted up to 36 young boys that are engaged in offloading yam tubers from canoes on the river and transferring it into 2trucks parked on the land. It's not about how much this guys will get at the end of the day but doing this will at least put food on their table.
If our government can look majorly into agriculture, it will reduce rate of unemployment to a certain extent, moreso when it's on a large scale production. If agriculture becomes funded, that is, access to fund from financial institutions at a lower or no interest rate and possibly availability of land by the government, it will become lucrative and youths will be interested in it rather than engaging in illegal activities.
The campaign about increasing rate of employment can also be achieved in this direction. Attached is the pictures of the guys transferring tubers to the truck.

21yr old Nigerian man crashed his Lamborghini and Bentley worth £450,000, and said 'life goes on'

I found this story on MailOnline, who knows this guy? His name is Elijah Oyefeso and he made international news after crashing his gold Lamborghini and Bentley Continental both worth about 450,000 pounds and laughed off the crash saying: 'Life goes on'. Read full story below...
Police found the two stricken supercars after they were involved in a smash outside a Morrisons supermarket in Grays, Essex, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Elijah Oyefeso, who says he owns both the Lamborghini and the Bentley, has told MailOnline he 'just started laughing' after the accident and is confident his insurance will cover the cost of repairs.

Mr Oyefoso, who has boasted of earning £26,000-a-month after setting himself up as a stock trader, had the car painted in metallic gold just seven weeks ago.
The 21-year-old, who also owns a Mercedes C-Class, said he let his friend drive the Bentley before the accident.
He said: 'I don't know at what point the crash happened. It was just the next thing I know he’s gone into the back of me.'
'I don’t remember what happened. Afterwards I just started laughing. Life goes on, you know.’
Mr Oyefoso, who suffered minor injuries in the accident, refused to say whether the pair were racing and said his insurance will cover the damage. He said his friend, who he would not name, was arrested by police.
The former University of Buckingham student says he dropped out of a Business Management Course to concentrate on trading stocks, using his student loan to set himself up.

Mr Oyefoso has posted pictures of his cars on instagram, along with photos of wads of dollar bills

Don't play the race or skinny card. You're a piece of work' - Piers Morgan comes for Nicki Minaj in new article

Don't play the race or skinny card. You're a piece of work' - Piers Morgan comes for Nicki Minaj in new article

In an article for Mail Online titled 'Don’t play the race or skinny cards, Ms Minaj - you’re just a stroppy little piece of work whose video wasn’t as good as Taylor Swift’s' - Piers Morgan shared his opinion on the feud between Taylor Swift & Nicki and sided with Taylor. Read what he wrote below
Superstar rapper Nicki Minaj once worked at a Red Lobster restaurant in the Bronx. She was fired for ‘discourtesy to customers’. This followed a familiar behavioural pattern. By her own admission, Minaj was fired from ‘at least fifteen jobs’ for similar reasons. That’s a lot of jobs and a lot of discourtesy.
I experienced at first hand what a stroppy little piece of work she could be when she appeared as a guest act on America’s Got Talent when I was still a judge on the show.
My three sons, aged 16, 13 and 9 at the time, were keen to get a photo with her backstage. I approached her dressing room, where she was lounging and yawning on a couch, and made the polite request.
Back came the message: ‘No.’
‘Sorry?’ I replied.
‘Ms Minaj is not available.’
‘Not even to say hello?’
‘NOT. AVAILABLE.’
My audience with her goons was over and I had to break the news to my sons that ‘Ms Minaj’ was too busy doing nothing to grant them a second of her precious time.
She proceeded to scowl her way through her entire time with AGT, on stage and off.
I thought of this when I watched Twitter blow up last night with Minaj’s angry rant about her supposed snub at the hands of the MTV Video Music Awards.
The main thrust of her fury seemed to be that her Anaconda video should have been nominated for Video of the Year, and the reasons it hadn’t been were because she’s a) black and b) not skinny enough.
Her tweets exploded like toxic firecrackers.
‘If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies,’ she raged, ‘you will be nominated for vid of the year.’
‘If I was a different ‘kind’ of artist,’ she sneered, ‘Anaconda would be nominated for vid of the year as well.’
‘When the ‘other’ girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture, they get that nomination.’
And on and on she flounced.
The target of her tempestuous tirade was self-evidently Taylor Swift, who did get nominated in the Video of the Year category, along with 8 other nominations, and is both white and skinny.

By coincidence, I myself also ran foul of Black Twitter yesterday when I responded to the current popular activist hashtag ‘#BlackLivesMatter’ by tweeting: ‘#ALLLivesmatter.’
I was trending in America for several hours as Black Twitter vented its wrath at my supposed attempt to ‘delegitimize black lives’.
One person even dubbed me a ‘white supremacist’ as the bile spewed in, despite the fact that I spent much of my time at CNN - when I wasn’t confronting gun nuts – fighting for racial equality and justice for murdered young innocent black men like Trayvon Martin.
So I have every sympathy with Taylor, who did absolutely nothing wrong.
And I have no sympathy with Nicki Minaj, who emerges as a whiny brat that just doesn’t like losing.
Her charges of racism and big-bodyism are frankly laughable when you consider that three of the five nominations for Video of the Year are black artists.
And one of them is Beyonce, whose own body is far more aligned to the Minaj school of physical beauty than Taylor Swift’s.
Further, 43 of the entire list of 75 nominations for this year’s VMAs include black artists.
Oh, and Minaj herself gets three nominations in other categories.
So the central allegations are a load of old hogwash.
The reason your video didn’t get nominated for Video of the Year, Ms Minaj, is that it wasn’t as good as the others which did.
Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran and Kendrick Lamar all made better ones.
That’s not my opinion because I’m white.
Or because I prefer skinny women to more voluptuous women (for the record, I don’t…).
It’s my opinion based on watching them all, and agreeing with the nominations.
In one final dig at Taylor Swift, Minaj moaned that whereas Taylor was applauded for leaving the music streaming company Spotify, she herself was ‘dragged’ for launching a rival called Tidal.
What she failed to point out was that Taylor put her new album on Tidal, thus directly supporting it.
There’s no doubt that in the past, the music industry was, like Hollywood, rife with racism, both overt and covert.
There’s also no doubt that many of the world’s top music stars today are black, and command both the financial reward and respect that such status and talent deserves.
For Nicki Minaj, who is indisputably very talented, to play the race card just because her video didn’t get the nomination she wanted is a cheap piece of faux outrage deliberately designed to stir up unnecessary racial tension where it shouldn’t exist.
Shame on you, Ms Minaj.

There is nobody who will be above the law in Nigeria - Osinbajo

There is nobody who will be above the law in Nigeria - Osinbajo

VP Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, said on Wednesday the Muhammadu Buhari administration would not spare anyone who went against the law as it would propagate the rule of law in all its programmes.

He said this when officials of the National Union of Road Transport Workers paid him a visit at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja. Osinbajo said;

"There is nobody who will be above the law in Nigeria, no matter who you are. You cannot use party. You cannot use the association; you cannot use position in government. Nobody is above the law. That is the first move and I want us to support that. Let us not say that if a person, who is one of our own, is being held to account for his wrong-doing, so long as the person is being held to account according to law, we must not support such a person. We must say ‘let the law take its course’. That is how good societies are run, there is no other way. If we see fairness, let us describe it as fairness; let us support what is right and good for our country. And our country is going to call upon us time and time again. We are the elite of this country. There is no other elite. You can’t look anywhere else for elite."
The Vice President added that the NURTW was an important stakeholder in the road transport network with as much national outlook as the Nigerian Army. He said that the union was one of the few associations with the grassroots in its reach because most Nigerians could access it. He said the union had a great role to play in national development
(NAN).

Buhari Will Probe Jonathan’s Govt Only; Not Obasanjo’s, Others – Presidency

Pres. Muhammadu Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari will not extend his corruption probe beyond the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, the presidency has said.
Mr. Buhari, who is currently on official visit to the United States, has consistently vowed to investigate and bring to book, persons who looted the country’s funds.
The president said on Tuesday he will arrest and prosecute past ministers and other officials who stole Nigeria’s oil and diverted government’s money to personal accounts.
But the Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs to Mr. Buhari, Femi Adesina, said the president will limit his anti-corruption war to the immediate past administration in the country.
He said Mr. Buhari will not waste time in probing the administrations of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Abdulsalam Abubakar, Sani Abacha and Ibrahim Babangida.
He said even before he was sworn in to office on May 29, the president had categorically stated that he would not extend his corruption probe beyond the Jonathan government.
“If you recall, that was already settled before he got inaugurated as president. He has said he will not waste time digging into the far past,” Mr. Adesina said.
“The far past will includes Obasanjo and others. But the president has said he will not waste time to go that far.”
Before leaving office, Mr. Jonathan had said any probe by the new government would be seen as a “witch hunt” if it fails to go beyond his administration.
Speaking on criticisms over President Buhari’s decision to travel to the U.S. with his son, Yusuf, the presidential spokesperson said Mr. Buhari did not breach any rule.
He said it was a normal practice for presidents to travel with members of their families, citing the example of American presidents who travel abroad with their wives and children.
“There is absolutely nothing wrong with the president travelling with one of his sons. It is an acceptable and standard practice. He could go with up to four members of his family.
“Don’t forget that when former President Bill Clinton visited Nigeria while he was in office, he came with his daughter, Chelsea.
“President Barak Obama travels with his children and so the President of Nigeria can travel out with three or four of his children. Late President Umaru Yar’Adua used to travel with two of his sons and one of his grandchildren,” he said.
Mr. Adesina described the outcome of the president’s official visit to the US as “a roaring success on every side.”
“There are good returns. It is an investment that will yield very handsome returns.

Buhari Shuts Down Question On Gay Marriage At US Congress

President Buhari was in Washington this week for a state visit
President Muhammadu Buhari immediately shut down a question about same-sex marriage in Nigeria during a session with US Congress members in Washington, DC. According to his spokesman Femi Adesina, President Buhari was “point blank” with the American lawmakers.
“Sodomy is against the law in Nigeria, and abhorrent to our culture,” Mr. Adesina said in a tweet on Wednesday.

JAMB Candidates Protest Manipulation of Test Scheme, Call For Removal Of Registrar Ojerinde

Candidates of the Joint Admission And Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination trooped to the University of Lagos (UNILAG) campus on Tuesday afternoon to protest against the management of the institution and the registrar of JAMB, Professor Dibu Ojerinde. Prof. Dibu Ojerinde-JAMB Registrar
The students, who were already preparing to sit for post-JAMB tests in UNILAG expressed shock at discovering their institutions of choice had been arbitrarily changed in their candidate records without their consent, and they called for the matter to be probed, and Professor Ojerinde removed.
The protesters explained that JAMB's action has randomly distributed them to schools they did not choose, and is forcing them into random schools against their individual wishes.
The protesters included the affected candidates, who said their records of choice schools have been arbitrarily altered by JAMB, some parents and legal practitioners, who have threatened to bring legal action against the Board.
They also criticized the University of Lagos, which raised the cut-off score for qualifying to take its post-JAMB test, accusing the institution of arbitrarily changing JAMB’s cut-off score to dictate its own.
"JAMB said it is 180,” one of the affected candidates explained. “Even if UNILAG said it wants 200, it might be understandable, but what is 250?"
One of the parents who came to the protest pointed out that his had repeated the JAMB test for the third year because he only wants to attend UNILAG.
“He rejected an offer from another institution in the last year's season. How then can JAMB suddenly change his choice institution when he's about to take post-JAMB test again in UNILAG?” he asked.
Asked another parent, "How can JAMB by its own decision change my daughter's school to Maiduguri where [Boko Haram leader] Shekau will probably be the VC?"
An activist who led the students in the protest, Dr. Kayode Owolabi, threatened to sue JAMB over the action. He accused the Board of deceiving and defrauding the students over sales of "Change of Institution and Course forms" only to later disregard their choices and distribute them randomly into schools they did not choose.
"I opened my record online and found a notice that my institution of choice has been changed by, single-handedly by JAMB," one of the candidates explained.

Press statement from the police  below...
It has come to the notice of the Police High Command that some corporate bodies and individuals have taken the illegal route of hiring police personnel for their services. It is the duty of the Nigeria Police Force to warn the public of the dangers inherent in this unlawful practice. The Special Protection Unit of the Force is available and equipped to meet the special protection needs of corporate bodies and individuals. Those interested are to route their application to the Inspector-General of Police for approval

US 'aiding and abetting; Boko Haram members - Buhari

US 'aiding and abetting; Boko Haram members - Buhari

President Buhari says that the US is 'aiding and abetting' terror group Boko Haram by refusing to supply arms to Nigeria. A US law called the Leahy Law prevents the US government from selling arms to countries which fail to tackle human rights abuses. President Buhari made the accusation while addressing members of the US Institute of Peace yesterday July 22nd
"In our efforts at combating the activities of Boko Haram, the new Government has sought and obtained the support of not only our neighbours other international friends and partners. Regrettably, the blanket application of the Leahy Law by the United States on the grounds of unproven allegations of human rights violations levelled against our forces has denied us access to appropriate strategic weapons to prosecute the war against the insurgents. Our forces have remained largely impotent because they do not possess the appropriate weapons and technology which they could have had, had the so-called human rights violations not been an obstacle. Unwittingly, and I dare say, unintentionally, the application of the Leahy Law amendment by the U. S. Government has aided and abetted the Boko Haram terrorist group in the prosecution of its extremist ideology and hate, the indiscriminate killings and maiming of civilians, in raping of women and girls, and in their other heinous crimes.”he said

The judge at a Kano high court had ordered the governor detained for two months a pronouncement that rattled the governor so much that that he asked the judge: "You mean, I 'll be going to prison"?
However, reprieve came the way of the governor when another high court in Abuja granted him bail.
The Lamidos arrived Kano today for the first after he was sent to jail last week. His supporters defied airport security to welcome him
