FG saves N50bn as it weeds off 43,000 ghost workers, cuts down on allowances

The Head of the Continuous Audit team of the Federal Government, Mohammed Dikwa says the Federal government has saved up to N50 billion through the audit of security agencies payroll and has been able to weed off 43, 000 ghost workers from its payroll.

EgyptAir Crash Was A Terrorist

An EgyptAir passenger plane en route to Cairo crashed into the Mediterranean Sea on Thursday morning. The plane was carrying 56 passengers and 10 crewmembers.

Panos Kammenos, the Minister of Defense from Greece, revealed that the Airbus A320 “turned 90 degrees left and then 360 degrees to the right” before plunging from 37,000 feet to 15,000 feet and disappearing from Greek radars.

Greek officials recovered pieces of plastic and two orange items believed to be life preservers floating roughly 370km from the Greek island of Crete. However, Egyptian authorities have not confirmed that the debris found came from the plane.
Egyptian and Greek authorities are still searching for the fallen aircraft and investigating the cause of the crash.

A section of a highway overpass collapsed onto an expressway in Oklahoma City after it was struck by a semi-truck. According to the city's fire department, a truck driving on the Northwest Expressway hit the bridge, causing a portion of it to collapse.

Exxon Mobil suspends exports from Nigeria due to renewed militant activities

U.S. oil company, Exxon Mobil Corp, says it has suspended exports from Nigeria’s top crude stream due to renewed activities of militants in the Niger Delta region. A statement from the company says it had declared a force majeure – a suspension of deliveries because of events beyond its control – on Nigeria’s Qua Iboe crude oil grade BFO-QUA, and that a portion of production had been curtailed after a drilling rig damaged a pipeline.‎

FG and labor leaders to meet today over planned strike action against increased pump price

The Federal government, leaders of the Nigeria Labor Congress NLC ‎and Trade Union allies will be meeting today May 16th to discuss on the planned strike action by the Labor congress. One confirmed dead in building collapse in Ogun

One of the workers at the site of the yet-to-be completed shopping mall that partially collapsed in Itokun, Ogun state earlier today has been confirmed dead.
