Arnella Kamanzi, the 18-month-old baby who was tortured by a maid early this month was yesterday admitted at the pediatric section in Mulago Hospital for further medical examinations. 

"The baby was brought here for examinations and a number of tests will be done to establish whether she is in good health," confirmed a source at the national referral hospital.

Jolly Tumuhiirwe, the maid who is the main actress in the 'horror movie' has been charged with attempted murder and she is due to appear in court on Dec. 08, 2014.

Speaking from Luzira prison, Jolly Tumuhiirwe has asked the 'world' to forgive her for what she did..she said;

"My dad in Kabale was very sick and yet my mom did not have any money. I asked my bosses for some money to send to my dad but they told me that I hadn't made a month yet and my father was dying, so it kept on haunting me."

"That is the more reason I referred the anger to the baby but I'm sorry. But that madam (Arnella's mom) is not easy. She used to say that I steal money from the clothes and Eric's wallet, I eat the babies food...and yet I can't eat the food, I'm not a baby, those were all lies, so, I was also not happy from my heart."

"I feel guilty..ok when I was doing it I thought I was disciplining the baby because also the mother sometimes slaps her, I also saw from the mom. The torch I used was small and it's not hard. I think, I will never do it again"

..of her experience in Prison, she said;

"It's not good at all even my fellow prisoners don't want to associate with me, they want to beat me up. In fact they were saying that I should join them in their rooms, nobody likes me and I'm feeling bad I will never do it again, I ask the world to forgive me and also tell the bosses who have maids to treat them well."

This First Class Graduate Of Economics was Shot Dead By Policeman While Defending his Girlfriend [See Photo]

policeman has killed a 30-year-old first class graduate of Economics from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, according to reports.
The victim, Moses Murtala Aminu, who lived at No. 67 Ahmadu Ahidjo Street, Narayi High Cost family residence, Barnawa, Kaduna State went to a party on Sunday, where the police constable that killed him, Alex Okpe, was beating up his girlfriend outside the party venue.
When he tried to intervene, the policeman got angry and shot Aminu, who died on the spot.
The constable was also said to have shot in the air as he escaped on his motorcycle.
Officers attached to the Barnawa Police Division had since arrested him, reports say.
Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Femi Adenaike confirmed the incident. According to him, Alex Okpe has been arrested and he confessed to the killing on interrogation.
Okpe however claimed that he fired the shots in ‘self-defence’.
“The suspect is in the cell and we have commenced investigation.
And if he is found guilty, we will give him an in-house trial and summary dismissal so that he can face the law for homicide,” Adenaike said.

Theater Review: A Tristan & Yseult That Tries to Be Laughed Off

A Cornish knight, an Irish princess, and the king they both betray by falling in love: For centuries the tale circulated Europe in various forms. But after Wagner’s monumentalTristan und Isolde had its premiere in 1865, his idiosyncratic version seemed to supplant all others. If you know the story today, it’s probably through his music, the epitome of high Romantic sincerity. Still, writes Emma Rice, an artistic director of the Cornish theater company Kneehigh, it was a local story, “asking to be told,” and so she set out to create a less bombastic and more vernacular take, “not an epic tale of grand romantic love held at arm’s length from our own experience, but a tender unraveling of love in all its beautiful and painful forms.” The result, first presented in Cornwall in 2003 and extensively produced on tour since then, is Kneehigh’s Tristan & Yseult, which has now come to St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn. Sweet and enjoyable, alluding to sad things without being sad itself, it’s hardly what you’d expect from the tale, however you spell it. 

It is, however, what you’d expect from Kneehigh, which made its name applying ironic storytelling techniques to borrowed drama. All its familiar modes of engagement are on display here: the jaunty live and recorded pop music, the clever use of minimal sets, the mild forms of audience assault and badgery. (You may be asked to make a toast or blow up a balloon.) But whereas the company’s lovely 2009 take on Brief Encounter helped dry out the Noël Coward melodrama, here the twee ingratiations are flung at a full-scale tragedy whose ancientness is central to our interest. And though Rice has reoriented the story to better match her company’s contemporary style, foregrounding the experience of “unloved” characters over that of her title pair, that makes the problem worse. The more compelling the add-ons, the less so the core. In what appears to be an attempt at rebalancing the scales, Rice even reverts, in the end, to — guess what? — Wagner. The most thrilling depiction of love’s insanity comes from an onstage record player, screaming out the “Liebestod.” 

The original material is more successful. Rice sets the story within an AA-like fraternity called the Club of the Unloved. Unlike Tristan and Yseult, who prove that  “if you are already loved, more love just seems to come your way,” its members play characters in the tale who do not find their affections reciprocated, or even in most cases noticed. No one writes operas about the silent fealty of a knight to his king, the quiet service of a maid to her lady, the pain felt by the second-choice wife whose husband is still obsessed with the first. But Rice gives them voice here. Indeed, in her most provocative invention, she arranges for Yseult’s maid, Brangian, to take Yseult’s place on her wedding night to King Mark. (Brangian, unlike her mistress, is a virgin.) The great surprise of romantic pleasure is quickly answered by an understanding of its cost: On her own wedding night, Brangian wonders, “will a queen take my place for me?” That Brangian is played by a man in Monty Python charwoman drag gives the scene the kind of extra frisson many of the other interventions fail to deliver. 

That’s the problem with Kneehigh’s magpie dramaturgy. In borrowing its expressiveness from anywhere — we get, aside from Wagner, hefty doses of Emily Dickinson, Yma Sumac, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, to name a few — it forgoes the formal consistency required by real drama. Instead it seems to pitch its style to people who might find traditional theater too sluggish or earnest. (With itsSNL aesthetic, the show would be perfect for smart high-school seniors.) Perhaps this is a savvy commercial choice: The company is a world-touring success. But with so much inventiveness and acting talent (the performers are terrific) Kneehigh could easily tell its stories without so much “Don’t worry, this is fun” placard-waving. Which is surely a shame, if not quite a tragedy.

The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor has called on the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, to write a letter to members of Boko Haram to stop their attacks just as he did to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

Pastor Oritsejafor made the call today at a 2-day meeting in Abuja with Senior Special Assistants on Religious Affairs to all state governors.

'Why We’re still Probing Bishop David Oyedepo'– UK Govt.

The British government, through its Charity Commission, has said it is still considering the financial information the Living Faith Church International popularly known as Winners Chapel belonging to the popular pentecostal clergyman, David Oyedepo.

The CC is responsible for registering eligible organisations in England and Wales which are established for only charitable purposes, taking enforcement action when there is malpractice or misconduct and ensuring charities meet their legal requirements. It also provides information on their activities each year, making appropriate information about each registered charity widely available, providing online services and guidance to help charities run as effectively as possible.

Responding to an email enquiry bySUNDAYPUNCH, the commission’s spokeswoman, Sarah Hitchings, told our correspondent that the consideration of the church’s finances by the British government did not qualify as conducting an investigation on the church.

Hitchings said, "We are not ‘investigating’ the charity. In the terms of our regulatory work, an ‘investigation’ is another word for ‘statutory inquiry’, the highest level of our investigatory work.

"We are not investigating Winners Chapel; we have an operational case open into the charity."

According to her, following concerns raised from some quarters in the United Kingdom about Winners Chapel London (charity number 1134421), the commission has been reviewing a number of issues including conflicts of interest, concerns about the reputation management of the church and its financial management.

"It has taken some time for the review to scrutinise the information available to determine the extent of any regulatory concerns.

"We have now met with the trustees, and are satisfied that we have no regulatory concerns relating to conflicts of interest and the reputation management of the charity. We are still considering financial information supplied by the charity to reach a conclusion on the issue of financial management,” the spokeswoman stated.

"At this stage, we cannot comment on the details of the case; however, it is our usual policy to report on the outcomes of our work once we have reached a conclusion. Please note, we are not ‘investigating’ the charity."

In a related development, the British agency in its inquiry reports made available on its website also accused the Redeemed Christian Church of God’s New Life Assembly (House of Prayer for All Nations), with charity number 1084582, of failing to submit to the commission annual accounts and reports and annual returns required for the financial years ending December 31, 2011 and December 31, 2012 until later this year.

The report noted, "The Charity was sent various computer generated reminders from the Commission regarding the submission of their annual accounting documents. In addition, the Commission attempted to contact the Charity by telephone on 10 April 2014. Further to this the Commission wrote to the Charity with a final warning on 10 April 2014 requesting that the missing documents be provided by 3 May 2014.

"During the Inquiry the Charity filed the missing annual accounts and reports and annual returns. The annual accounts and reports and annual return for the financial year ending 31 December 2011 were submitted on 8 August 2014, together with the annual report for the financial year ending 31 December 2012. A Technology company, MindHub Technologies is claiming D’banj is owing them the sum of $240,000 and another N15,000,000, which the artiste has not denied but issued them post-dated cheques which were bounced back.

MindHub Technologies who now speaks with D’banj through their lawyers after all efforts made by them for him to pay proved abortive said D’banj has only deemed it fit since last year to pay only N8,600,000 out of the N15,000,000 and has not paid a single penny from the $240,000.

"We act as Solicitors to MINDHUB TECHNOLOGIES LTD (hereinafter called “OUR CLIENT”), and on whose instruction we write you this letter in the manner stated hereunder.

It is our brief that sometime in January 2013 in Lagos, you signed a Personal Guarantee/Memorandum of Undertaking with our client wherein you agreed/undertook to pay our client the investment fund of N100,000,000.00k (One Hundred Million Naira Only) given to D KINGS MEDIA LIMITED by our client, should the latter default in payment of the debt. The said debt is made up of Nigerian and United States of America’s currencies,” the letter addressed to him stated.

The case is already in a Lagos high court and due for hearing, why it has been almost impossible for months now to serve D’banj, because he has been outside the country, while some however claim the major reason D’banj has been in the US is because he does not want to be served. 

Whatever that means we hope they settle this fast!
